During a routine inspection of the old woman’s suitcase, a strange image appeared on the scanner. The officer immediately ordered it opened. What they found stunned everyone
Inside the suitcase were…
Inside were three live chickens . Nearby was a handful of grain and an old rag, which Grandma had apparently used to cover them on the road. One chicken was quietly clucking, the other was trying to get out.
“These are… live chickens,” the officer said, dumbfounded.
“Yes,” the grandmother answered calmly. “I told you I was bringing gifts for my grandchildren.”
– Ma’am, you know that transporting animals without documents is prohibited!
Grandma sighed heavily:
“I just wanted my grandchildren to eat fresh soup. Everything is expensive there, but I raised these chickens myself; they’re good, homemade…”
The employee didn’t know what to say. He looked at his colleague, who simply shrugged his shoulders. After a short meeting, the head of the department decided that the chickens should be handed over to the airport’s veterinary service and a report should be filed against the grandmother.
As the staff carefully removed the birds from the suitcase, the old woman cried.
– I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything bad…
The officer replied softly:
— We understand, ma’am. But the rules are the same for everyone.
The chickens were quarantined, and later a local farm agreed to take them in. Grandma was allowed to leave, but without her “gift.”
Just before takeoff, she quietly said to the officer:
— Tell them so they don’t forget: these chickens are mine.
The guy smiled for the first time that day and replied:
— I promise, ma’am. They’ll be in good hands.
